Dili, 16 February 2016 - The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA-TL) Timor-Leste donated 650 maternity packages to Alola Foundation
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) donated 650 maternity packages to Alola Foundation to support pregnant women who are in needs for some maternity kits during delivery. The package contains hygiene and sanitary kits and clothes for baby and mothers. This ceremony was held at the office of Alola Foundation on 16 February 2016.
Prior to handed over ceremony, Mrs. Maria Imaculada Guterres (Program Manager for Maternal and Child Health, Alola Foundation) gave brief summaries of Alola Foundation's activities to Mr. John M. Pile (UNFPA's Representative) and UNFPA's members.
In his short remarked, Mr. Pile, stated that this small donation can help Alola Foundation to reach more pregnant women and mothers who are in need during this critical time. At the same time, Mrs. Alzira Belo (CEO, Alola Foundation) thanked UNFPA-TL for its continued support to its Maternal and Child Health Program and this support means a lot them.
At the end of the handover ceremony, both representatives (Alola Foundation and UNFPA-Timor-Leste) are looking forward to our continued collaboration in providing programs and services related to maternal and child health which at the end can bring huge impact in reducing morbidity and mortality of mothers and children in Timor-Leste.
