The Position:

The Communication Assistant is located in Country Offices (CO) and reports to

Representative/Assistant Representative

 

Job Purpose:
The Communication Assistant will provide support on communication related to the UNFPA office.
You would be responsible for:
● Support promotion and visibility of UNFPA mandate through different media venues;
● Provide technical inputs in support of designing the UNFPA Timor-Leste core program advocacy and communication activities in collaboration with communication staff and support liaison with national media;
● Support the management in establishing a database of evidence-based on life and success stories, and develop and maintain audiovisual materials;
● Support other communications staff in the management of the UNFPA local website and ensure regular updates of its content in close cooperation with staff;
● Assist in the drafting of media briefs on UNFPA CO activities for CO and when requested by the Regional Office;
● Provide substantive technical support to the program team to develop IEC/BCC material in a different thematic area;
● Work with the UN system to sensitize Media/journalists on UNFPA Mandate and to identify communication opportunities;

● Translate communication materials between English and Tetum;
● Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor or UNFPA Representative.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree at journalism, communication, or other relevant fields.
Knowledge and Experience:
● 5 years of relevant work experience in journalism, communications, or other relevant programs; experience working in the development sector, UN or other international development organization would be an asset;
● Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.
Languages: Fluency in English; Fluency in Tetum and Bahasa is an added advantage.
